Analysing my song

Demay-'Make that change'

Analise the lyrics-
Verse 1
I take a flick through the news,
more gun crimes more blues,
kids on the street confused,
never listenting to anybodies views,
another MP confused,
more fake promises, more fakes news,
things change like never,
the police not there,
unless a youth smoke a joint - I bet heat was there,
when Mrs Jones got attacked on her street for spares,
no feds on the scene - I wonder if they even care,
maybe they should have taken a look at reports,
and they would have seen that she'd been getting hassled out on her porch,
got her windows smashed, and now she on life support,
too little too late but I could spare the thought
too many gangs in our capital,
put the gun down little man,
educate yourself, don't abandon school.
a teachers duty to make sure they stay in school,
inspiration to children, and move them all,
Demay has used these lyrics because he wants people to change their lives. In the 1st verse he talks about life on the street and how no one listens to what happens with the economy and how mp's are confused with why people are not listening to the world, He talks about gangs and what they do to people (mrs jones getting attacked). He also talks about how police dont look more into a situation that has happened with someone and about gang members and how they should go back to school to learn instead of being a bad image to our country.

Hook x 2
and its hard on ths streets,
make that change,
it's hard time for the weak,
make that change,
and we could break that pain,
it's more struggling,
do the right thing,
make the change for your brother then,
The chorus is repeated 3 times and it is repeated so the lyrics can stay in your head and it will alwyas remind you to make a change in your life. Demay wants no pain and no weakness in the world, and he wants people not to struggle in their life.

Verse 2
Now little Tommy is scared for his life,
he ticked some drugs from a dealer,
but now he can't pay tonight,
next door Mr Jones praying for his wife,
gangs on the street means he walk with a knife,
sick of hearing broken britain,
we made a lot of cash in history but now the banks saying that we're in recession,
if you're unemployed maybe you could get depression,
he's on benefits now he need a new direction,
I just wake up and look around,
count my lucky stars that I'm in the place I found,
even when the media just wanna dumb us down,
telling us who we should be,
and who to follow now,
there's a government election - it's next week,
upper class of society who wanna speech,
what about the working class if they wanna speak?
howcomes theres no working class in the seats?
He talks about how people are scared because of the streets being so rough and how people always revert to drugs because they think it will stop their depression. Demay carrys on to talk about the incident with mrs jones and how her husband is so worried that he even carrys a knife with him around his area that he lives in because hes so scared. Demay talks about the goverment and reccession and how people without jobs can get depression and the goverment want people to be like their role models. Goverment election is mentioned and all the high classed people will be attending the election.

Hook x 2

it's hard time for the weak,
make that change,
and we could break that pain,
it's more struggling,

Verse 3
Prison not fun,
but every youth on the estate wanna be a gangster,
a rude boy, a sharp tounge,
it's all nonsense and when the shit hit the fan you can't run,
why not do something positive for society,
your hearts won,
Mrs Jones made it through, but she can't run,
she can barely walk,
but she glad to see her son,
where was the local mp while all this was going on?
probably sitting in his big house with the notes on,
what about the police?
maybe hopes gone,
what about the peace?
maybe hopes on,
maybe one day we'll smile when the ropes gone,
its time to wake up and watch for your fellow man,
negativity has always played a bigger hand,
thats why we gotta fight and be the bigger man,
stay strong and do more for the fellow man,
Demay goes on to talk about how all the younger generation want to be gangsters and how they are all rude by swearing, he also talks about if serious trouble happens then they won't act so hard in front of anyone. Demay carrys on to talk about mrs jones and how she's not so badly hurt anymore and how she is so happy to see her son. Demay says about he mp and where he was when this was going on. what about the police, where were they and how helpful were they. The fellow man is all about your friends and that you should always look out for them.

Hook x 4

Target audience-
The target audience that i would associate this song to would be an age barrier between 16 and 20's. I decided this age barrier because the lyrics that are sung could be about how he made a change in his life and how he would like others to make a change.

Genre-
The genre i would say that this song is is R&B because the lyrics are all about being on the street and gangs. He also talks about people who struggle in life and also friends and family and thats what most R&B people sing about now a days.

Gender-
The gender i would say that this song is aimed at will be the male gender because the song is all about life on the streets and how would you make a change to the place or too people individually. Women would be less likely to listen to this song because they don't base their lifes by being on the streets and gangs.

Location where song will be played-
The song will most likely be played in rural areas which have a downfall in their society. People that live near flats or in them could be having a problem with gangs and also the drugs that are avaliable for people to get. Demay wants many people to change their life and not stick to drugs and violence.

Analysing the Music-
The music that demay has in his song works well with lyrics because it is up beat and also a tune which will be stuck in your head after only listening to it once. The music is repeated which also makes it a tune which can be stuck in your head. The instruments that demay uses in his song are a piano and also

Analysing the tempo- The tempo of this song by Demay is a song which is neither to fast nor to slow so i think it will be easy to work with because i will be able to listen to it carefully to pick out the main parts when i need to have a cut in my video.

How would i visually communicate this song in a video?- I would visually show this song by having the song filmed on the streets and also cut a ways of maybe smashed windows to add the dramtic effect of a rough area. I may also have a small video clip of a bunch of boys causing trouble but not literally. (only for the music video) This video can work really well if i put all my comittment into it and also if the costumes and atmosphere don't match the song then my music video wont be a success so i need to get it right first time.
